SINCE 2007

Gospel Limited is one of the longest existing gospel choirs in the Czech Republic. In 2007 it was founded by choirmaster Vašek Tříska, under whose leadership he soon turned from a small school choir into an international group. Since its inception, the choir has performed at dozens of concerts in clubs such as Jazz Dock, Malostranská Beseda, Lucerna Music Bar and Rock Café, and at many festivals such as Blues Alive and Boskovice.

An integral part of the sound of Gospel Limited is its acompanying band composed of excellent jazz musicians: piano / organ Jan Andr (The Track Inspection, Boris Carloff) / Jára Bárta, bass guitar Jan Jakubec, guitar Ondřej Malina / Tomáš Fuchs, drums Martin Linhart / Michal Daněk. In recent years, soloist Jana Vataščinová has taken on the role of conductor in addition to Vašek Tříska.

WHAT WE DO

The choir sings mainly contemporary gospel, which combines the musical tradition of American black churches with modern influences of jazz, funk or hip hop. Their repertoire includes compositions by contemporary gospel stars such as Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, Israel Houghton and Fred Hammond, but recently they have been fond of traditional gospel or spirituals.

In 2013, the choir released its first studio CD No Other Choice. Thanks to the successful crowdfunding campaign on HitHit the album was created in the environment of the legendary SONO studio. the album was christened at Lucerna Music Bar in Prague by singer Tonya Graves.

INSPIRATION & COLLABORATION

Gospel Limited is constantly developing and drawing inspiration from many sources. They have been working for a long time with top gospel lecturer Brian Fentress and participates in gospel and choral workshops in the Czech Republic and abroad. As a voice coach they have also worked with Pavla Fendrichová.

In 2017, the choir celebrated 10 years of singing in the club Palace Akropolis when they invited Grammy-winning American soul singer Nadia Washington (NYC, USA) and pianist Jiří Nedom (Boston, USA) as special guest performers. Watch videos from the concert.

The choir also cooperates successfully with artists outside gospel music - they recorded vocals for the comeback album EvoLucie by Lucie, which became the album of 2018. They also provided acompanying vocals in the song "When You Save Me" by singer Anna K. from the album Světlo (2017).
